Never let it be said that Carly Roberts doesn't do everything ass-backwards. First, she got pregnant and had a child by AJ Quartermaine, with whom she had a drunken one-night stand. She made her then-lover, Dr. Tony Jones, believe the baby was his but when she got caught lying, she compounded her problems by claiming it was Jason Morgan, AJ's brother, who was the father -- a ruse with which Jason went along. Just when she was about to run off with Jason and baby Michael, Carly decided to marry AJ, a plan that I have never understood the logic of. When she couldn't pretend to care for AJ any more, Carly searched for Jason and found him with Elizabeth Webber. Hurt by Jason's desire to have a life outside of the Carly Roberts universe, Carly went to Sonny's penthouse, where they seduced one another and had sex. Not romantic sex, but sickly sex -- the type of sex you might see while visiting your friendly neighborhood barnyard.

Carly became pregnant, tried to have sex with AJ so she could claim the baby was his, but Sonny and his ever strong-armed lawyer, Alexis, blackmailed AJ into giving up his parental rights to baby Michael and give Carly the divorce she wanted. What's a girl to do but move in with the mobster/father of her child? Sonny and Carly lost their baby when Carly provoked AJ while she was standing at the top of the Quartermaine staircase and tumbled down to a miscarriage. After seducing one another, getting pregnant, losing the baby, getting married, almost losing one another when Sonny was shot by his enemy Sorel's henchmen and then re-marrying, Carly and Sonny fell in love. What's scary is not how far-fetched this is, but how closely it parallels the way I met my husband!
